As shown in Fig. 1, the Handbook is divided into three parts:

The Core part covers concepts that are relevant for all ICHEC technical staff, at a level that would be suitable for a new hire. This content may also be useful for ICHEC’s user base.

The Advanced part covers concepts that are relevant for a subset of ICHEC staff working in a particular domain or activity, but may become useful for any staff member if they move into that activity. Familiarity with all Core Skill content is assumed.

The Specialist part covers concepts that may only be useful for certain staff that are focusing on deep technical details in a particular area.

Within these parts, Chapters are further grouped into:

• Competencies: such as Project and Time Management

• Technologies: such as Operating Systems and Programming Languages

• Activites: such as Web Development or Platform Engineering

Navigating

This is a long document with many sections. When navigating it you are advised to use both left and right navigation panels and Search box in the HTML view, as per Fig. 2 or the Bookmark view in your PDF viewer, as per Fig. 3, so you can easily browse and jump between the Parts, Chapters and Sections.
